New York, New York – Mustang performers head to Big Apple

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The Mustang Players are set and ready to leave for New York to perform their original musical, “Exhibit of the Mind” off Broadway on March 20. The troupe has held fundraising events, such as a car wash on March 4 and a GoFundMe account to pay for the expenses of the trip. Senior performer Tatiana Galante among the entire theatre department feel grateful for the donations.

Mustang boys finish second in county weightlifing

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) -March 8 the LRHS boys weightlifting team received second place at the county championship at LRHS. Next Wednesday the boys move onto districts, which will also be held here. Weightlifting coach Jacob Sponsel said, “I think we did well. The kids lifted well and to the best of their ability, a lot of them even reached their personal best.

LRHS singers in tune at tough MPAs

(LAKEWOOD RANCH) – Friday Feb. 24, the LRHS chorus department went to Venice High School in order to sing at the annual district level Music Performance Assessment (MPA). Beginning Womens Chorus was given straight “Excellent” ratings on their stage performance and a “Superior” rating in the sight reading room.

Chorus ready to sing for scores

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Friday the LRHS chorus’ will head to Venice High School in order to perform in the annual Music Performance Assessment (MPA). MPA’s are sanctioned opportunities for quality feedback on a variety of musical formats. The process of MPA begins when a chorus warms up, which is tradition before practicing and performing to prevent the singers from straining their voices.

Mustangs enter eye of the Hurricane for a song

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS advanced women’s chorus and men’s chorus went to Manatee High School Feb. 1 to combine with singers there to prepare for the preparation of their upcoming community performance and trip to New York. This was the first time the two chorus programs rehearsed together. Senior Parker Wilson, tenor, said “I think it’s really cool to be able to work in individual groups and we all work so hard and when we combine the songs with the other chorus and it ended up sounding amazing.”.

MustAng Capella falls short of states

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – A ranking of “Excellent” means MustAng Capella won’t be moving on to state competition. Saturday MustAng Capella went to Sarasota High School for district Solo & Ensemble. The ensemble finished their performance, got critiqued by the judge, said thank you, and went to the court yard to hear their results.

MustAng Capella ready for radio debut

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Some LRHS singers will soon get their shot at radio fame. On Dec 12, the Lakewood Ranch A Capella club, MustAng Capella, went to Bradenton’s Joy FM studio to record some of their Christmas set. The group recorded “Joy to the World,” “Carol of the Bells,” and “Mary Did You Know,” all covers from the famous A Capella group, Pentatonix.

MustAng Capella ready for Busch Gardens

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS MustAng Capella heads to Busch Gardens Dec. 2 to perform their full set of Christmas music for the public. The group will be performing “Little Drummer Boy,” “White Winter Hymnal,” “Mary Did You Know,” “Joy to the World,” and “Carol of the Bells.”. “We are really excited to sing at Christmas Town at Busch Gardens this year,” said MustAng Capella director Giselle Panagiotakis, “this is a new thing for us and since we are so new and so good, if I may say so myself, we are fully prepared to knock some socks off.”.

MustAng Capella sings a fundraising tune

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Starting at 4 p.m., on Thursday the LRHS chorus will be at the Applebee’s, 7175 State Road 70, fundraising for their trip to New York this March. Everyone at Applebee’s with the flyers provided by chorus members will automatically donate 10% of their check to the LRHS chorus.
